6th Grade

In 6th grade, students are expected to learn the core fundamentals of each subject: language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.  This means mastering number sense and math facts, introducing algebraic skills, higher level reading and writing, mastery of world geography, and introducing integrated science concepts.  In addition, as this is the first step into the middle grades, students will also learn socio-emotional skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation, and collaboration.  By the end of 6th grade, students should have a strong academic and social foundation and be more ready than ready for 7th grade.

7th Grade

In the 7th grade, students are expected to arrive with strong academic skills and solidify any gaps they have before entering into 8th grade.  Students will critical think, analyze, and evaluate their individual and collaborative work.  Students will be exposed to pre-algebra, world history, earth space science, and language arts.  Students will also be expected to engage in many online and digital projects, readying themselves not only for 8th grade, but for the 21st century.

8th Grade

In 8th grade, the curriculum will become even more rigorous with students venturing deeper enter Algebra and utilizing their technological skills to collaborate and produce writing and projects online.  Students will continue to critically think and examine historical events, scientific concepts, and literary themes.  Students can expect to read longer texts and write multi-paragraph essays in each class.  The principal goal that PPA has for its 8th grade class is to prepare them for academic and social success in high school.
